Communitas Supportive Care Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families through person-centered services that foster inclusion, independence, and community participation. We are seeking a motivated Junior Accounting Assistant to join our Finance team at our Coquitlam office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone beginning their accounting career who is interested in contributing to a mission-driven organization.

Position Summary

The Junior Accounting Assistant supports the day-to-day financial operations of the organization by processing transactions, maintaining records, assisting with reconciliations, and providing administrative support to the Finance Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Verify invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy
  • Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
  • Enter accounting data into financial management systems
  • Support payroll administration and employee expense reimbursements
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes
  • Prepare financial reports, spreadsheets, and summaries as required
  • Respond to internal inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and financial documentation
  • Perform general administrative duties to support the Finance team

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post-secondary coursework, certificate, or diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Eligibility to work in Canada

Preferred

  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems
  • Previous bookkeeping, administrative, or customer service experience
  • Experience working in a nonprofit environment
  • Enrollment in or completion of an accounting designation pathway
