We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Worker to help maintain our facilities, equipment, and properties in a safe, functional, and welcoming condition.

This position supports multiple program and administrative locations throughout the Tri-Cities area and plays an important role in ensuring a safe environment for employees, clients, and visitors.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Worker performs a variety of maintenance, repair, and facility support duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for preventative maintenance, basic repairs, grounds maintenance, safety inspections, and general building upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspections of buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules
  • Conduct minor repairs to doors, locks, windows, flooring, furniture, and fixtures
  • Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and other building components as required
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner

Grounds and Property Maintenance

  • Maintain outdoor areas including walkways, parking lots, and landscaped spaces
  • Perform seasonal maintenance such as snow and ice removal, leaf cleanup, and minor landscaping
  • Monitor property conditions and identify maintenance concerns
  • Assist with waste and recycling management

Safety and Compliance

  • Conduct facility safety inspections and report hazards
  • Support workplace health and safety initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and safety procedures
  • Assist with emergency preparedness activities and facility-related incidents

Equipment and Vendor Coordination

  • Operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment safely
  • Coordinate service calls and repairs with contractors and vendors when required
  • Track maintenance activities and maintain service records
  • Assist with inventory management for maintenance supplies and equipment

General Support

  • Assist with office moves, furniture assembly, and room setup for meetings and events
  • Support facility improvement projects
  • Provide courteous service to staff, clients, and visitors
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of building maintenance, facilities, construction, or related experience
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to travel between organizational locations
  • Basic knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Eligibility to work in Canada

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, residential, or community service environments
  • Trade certification or coursework in building maintenance, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or a related field
  • Occupational First Aid certification
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools
